Healing Hands Therapy

Body & Physical Healing

Embodied Healing Through the Body

Physical pain, injury, and chronic tension are often the body’s way of signaling deeper imbalance.

You may be navigating recovery from an upper extremity injury, managing persistent strain, or feeling the cumulative effects of stress held within your body and nervous system.

For some, the entry point is physical pain. For others, it’s tension, burnout, or disconnection from the body altogether. Wherever you’re beginning — this work meets you there.

The Embodied Musician: Healing Beyond Injury

Specialized support for musicians and performing artists navigating performance tension, injury recovery, and embodied alignment.

This pathway is ideal for individuals who:

  • Are recovering from upper extremity injury or surgery
  • Experience chronic tension, strain, or repetitive use pain
  • Feel stress accumulating physically in the body
  • Notice patterns of pain that return despite treatment
  • Want hands-on care integrated with nervous system awareness
  • Are open to exploring the connection between physical symptoms and deeper patterns

Hands-On Care

With a background as an Occupational Therapist and Certified Hand Therapist, I bring advanced clinical expertise in assessing and treating conditions affecting the hands, wrists, elbows, shoulders, and upper extremity system.

This work may support:

Injury and post-surgical recovery

Repetitive strain and overuse conditions

Chronic pain and tension patterns

Nerve compression and mobility issues

Postural and movement imbalances

Stress-related somatic holding

Hands-on care may include manual therapy, myofascial release, craniosacral techniques, and nervous system regulation work — always tailored to your individual needs.

The Integrative Bridge

While physical symptoms may be the entry point, healing rarely lives in the body alone.

Stress, emotional experiences, identity patterns, and nervous system dysregulation often shape how pain is held — and how healing unfolds.

This integrative work blends clinical therapy with somatic awareness, energetic healing, and intuitive insight to support release at the root level — not just symptom management.

Because true healing happens when the whole system is addressed — not just the symptom.

What This Work May Include:

Depending on your needs, sessions may include:

Comprehensive physical assessment

Manual and craniosacral therapy

Movement and posture refinement

Nervous system regulation techniques

Body awareness practices and tension pattern retraining

Exploration of patterns contributing to recurring tension

Guidance on prevention and sustainable alignment

How It Works

Many clients begin this work seeking relief from pain, a traumatic injury or a physical limitation…and discover that the body is holding far more than tension alone. As physical alignment is restored, deeper layers often begin to unfold.

Most clients begin with an Embodied Alignment Session. This initial session allows us to assess your physical patterns, nervous system response, and overall goals — and determine the most aligned next steps.

From there, you may continue with:

Individual transformation sessions

A structured healing package

Ongoing performance support (for musicians)

Healing unfolds progressively — meeting you exactly where you are.

Book an Embodied Alignment Session to start reconnecting with your body, releasing stored tension, and restoring harmony across your system.

The Embodied Musician

A musician’s greatest goal is playing without tension — physically, emotionally, and energetically.

Yet the physical demands of performance, repetitive movement patterns, nervous system activation, and emotional expression can create strain that lives far beyond the surface of the body.

As both a therapist and musician, I understand the intimate relationship between body alignment, breath, nervous system regulation, and creative expression.

I offer specialized support for:

Performance-related injuries

Tension patterns while playing

Breath and posture alignment

Overuse and repetitive strain conditions

Recovery following injury or surgery

Nervous system regulation for performance anxiety

This work not only supports physical healing — but helps musicians return to their craft with greater ease, embodiment, and expressive freedom.

What They Say

Lisa Marcantonio-Smith

“Heather is a talented and practiced CHT (certified hand therapist) who has been very helpful in my recovery from left thumb surgery, which I had done in May of this year. She has an amazing ability to help me reach my goals of full mobility and strength in my left hand, all the while being positive and encouraging. She cares about all of her patients and works out a custom plan for each one. It has been a pleasure working with her and I would highly recommend Heather to any person in need of upper extremity therapy.
